The Scottish Grime Scene (Written By @MoxieMediaLtd)

The Grime Genre has very recently gained major mainstream popularity across the UK and the whole world in 2015 after it all but disappeared from the mainline channels a short time after its inception around 2002 in London. The sound has evolved along with the genre with a much more American trap/dirty south style used in the modern beats you hear today.

As grime slowly begin to move north from its home in London with notable artists from all over the country now popping up all the way up to Aberdeen! Scotland now has a host of Grime Artists putting out music in the genre.

20 Year Shadoh  (Pictured) from the North Ayrshire Region of Scotland is currently considered the number one Grime Artist from Scotland and has legit claims to the King Of Scotland Crown. He started his music career at 15 years old and has then since build an outstanding fan base in his Home Country and now has a growing support across the UK and globally! He has featured with artists from across the UK including popular don't flop battle rapper Dotz they recently featured in a music video together shot in the south side of Glasgow (Click HERE to view). He has also appeared in two music videos this year which were posted on the popular midlands based P110 media's official YouTube channel.

His most popular track of 2015 which cemented his position as number one Grime act in Scotland was the song "Backlash" Moxie Media Management provided the visuals for the song and it was very well received and has racked up around 15 thousand YouTube views within 4 months which is very good for a Scottish artist on a new YouTube channel with very few subscribers. Shadoh is an extremely talented and determined young aritst with a solid fan base and now under Moxie Media Management he is progressing well in the music industry and is starting to get more attention from people south of the border. I hope 2016 is the year people really start to stand up and take notice of this artist who is setting very high standards across the board with his hard hitting and raw bars over modern catchy grime beats. He is set to make history in the future.

Scotland largest City Glasgow has the best new Grime artist in Melroze. He has came on to the scene hard this year putting out 3 solo music videos and appearing in a feature with Shadoh in a highly popular Gravel pit Grime Dub. He plans to drop his debut album early in 2016 and has built up a small following in his short tenure in music. Glasgow being the most populated city does also have other lesser known artists doing grime but not as many as we would have liked as its the biggest city.

Further north in Aberdeen Ransom FA is the most noted Grime MC, he has been putting work for several years with the popular media company RFM (Now disbanded) and has performed at several events as a support act for the likes of Skepta, Krept & Konan and J-Hus, he also plans to support well known rapper Giggs in the near future, he has appeared in videos on Link Up TV and featured with Shadoh in a P110 media video "Like That" which was well received by the mostly English Audience despite the two artists being from Scotland. Local artist Syko is currently making grime also and is definitely one to watch in the future.

Over in the Kingdom Of Fife The KRE8-INK crew alongside Bare Jokez are repping the area well just now with KRE8-INK'S RB being the most acclaimed just now. He has featured in 3 music videos this year and is smashing grime instrumentals right now.

Overall the scene is growing slowly with Shadoh leading the charge and reaching the highest audience with the help of his loyal fan base. I hope to see more Grime artists appear in 2016 across the whole of the United Kingdom and further afield.

Note from KIP: We would just like to further confirm the work rate and talent held by both Shadoh and Moxie Media Management as two of the most driving forces in the Scottish scene right now. You can actually catch Shadoh on our latest #KIPGANG album which is available to download for free HERE and we look forward to seeing what the Scottish scene brings in 2016!
