Mavado’s Trial Pushed To February 2013 | RJR News - Jamaican News Online
The trial of dancehall entertainer Mavado has been pushed back to next year.
A February 12 date was set yesterday in the Corporate Area Criminal Court.
Mavado's attorney, Peter Champaignie, sought an adjournment as he's engaged in a trial in the Home Circuit Court.
Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, is to stand trial after being accused of assaulting a member of the police force during an altercation at a New Kingston nightclub which left a member of his entourage dead.
During the altercation, it's alleged that the artiste punched one of the policemen in the face.
Gunfire then rang out and following the melee, 31 year old Conroy Edwards was shot and later died in hospital
