Eklipse ( a.k.a Jamal Msebele) is a 19 year old MC from East London. He started MCing in the summer of 2007 after going on a music course at the Roundhouse in Camden, meeting other people his age doing music such as Multi, Levelle and KZ. He then fell in love with the genre that most of London’s youth are raging about: Grime. He started writing lyrics from then on and now has the lyrical ability to expand his horizons in to almost any genre as long as he has an instrumental to write to.
Having started writing poetry at the age of 10, Jamal is an award-winning poet and published author. Jamal has performed poetry at all the major events in London (Apples & Snakes, Word 4 Word, Poejazzi and many, many more) and even Festivals outside of the capital (Latitude). However since discovering his love for music, Jamal has decided to bring the two sides of his personality together through the help of his alias Eklipse.
The Recollection EP, which will be out on the 14th of April is by far his best work yet. The EP is being released in order to generate arousal before the release of his debut mixtape, Dark Matters, which is to be released later this year. In January He released the music video to the first track off of the mixtape, entitled Euphoria, which was well received.
He proved his love for both art-forms when he organised an event called Barz & Stanzas at the Southbank Centre. Attracting a crowd of 400 he displayed his talents along side young stars of both genres; Voltage, No.Lay, Double S, Floetic Lara, Jay Bernard and Kayo Chingonyi. Hosted by Klayze Flaymz of RED Hot and with Dj Merciless of Age Iz Nuffin on the decks the event had established people of both arenas in the crowd such as Chipmunk and Lemn Sissay.
He has since released two EPs and recorded videos with youtube channels such as PWTV and UV.UK. Eklipse is looking to take the Grime genre to new heights with his deep verses consisting of thunderous metaphors and complex flows and catchy choruses.
