Now as I'm sure your all aware by now, we at Knowledge Is Power Promotions like to bring you new, raw talents from across the country in our bid to help the underdogs that keep the passion of urban music alive. We would like to introduce you to a very positive young artist currently making his mark on the underground hiphop circuit.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Rowan Groom aka Ro grew up as any other kid would. With a passion for rugby whilst at school he started to acquire a growing interest in politics and realised the impact that his hiphop collection had on the masses through the powers of informative lyricism.
Drawing inspiration from such artists as DeadPrez, Immortal Technique, Biggie Smalls, Proverb, Jedi Mind Tricks and Rhyme Asylum he started to realise that he could make a wider social change and deeper impact through the power of music. He's now been writing and recording music for only 2 years and has moved to the uk to spread his message and gain further knowledge of our urban scene
Spreading even more positivity, Ro is also a chairman and founder of non profit organisation "The 23rd Movement" which provides impoverished communities around the world with the necessary agricultural tools to generate food and/or cash crop and become sustainable within their community, you can check them out on facebook HERE
Check out his DelaHayeTv freestyle below:
You can download his debut album, recorded last year "Social Anxiety" from iTunes HERE and if you'd like a preview of what to expect from the album, check out some of the tracks via his soundcloud page below. Rowan has been selling hardcopies of this brilliant album around the streets of Oxford and performing the tracks at numerous local gigs which also goes towards funding for "The 23rd Movement"
You can also catch him featuring on our forthcoming hiphop/rap compilation which you can check out the line up and submit your own tracks for HERE
