Derby has brought many talented musicians to our website but up until now the majority of them have been of the grime/urban variety. We at Knowledge Is Power would like to introduce you to a brilliant new 4 piece band that have been making music for just over a year now and are on the verge of making it into the big time.
They released their first self titled EP in January last year which is still available to buy from iTunes HERE and recently in April this year released the follow up release entitled "Lucky Number 8" you can also buy this album from the link at the top of this page and if you wish to listen before you buy check it out via the soundcloud player below
Now I like to pride myself on the variation of music and genres that I listen to and although I tend to lean towards the urban and electronic genres, this EP was thoroughly enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone looking to listen to something fresh and new.
If someone asked me to describe what genre of music Joint Honours make I would describe it as a rock infused, melodic pop with spoken word style rap sprinkled on top. From listening to their first EP then listening to the new one I can hear the musical progression that these four guys have made in the last year and the chemistry they have together seems to work really well in allowing them to all connect in unison to deliver a polished product.
A personal favourite from the EP is a track called Man Overboard. This track is a beautiful piece of music with a very stripped back minimal sound to it accompanied by a few cleverly written lyrical verses and an emotionally gripping, powerful chorus.
All in all this release is a very well written, nicely recorded and well put across piece of work that I would deffinetly recommend you grab for yourself and form your own opinion. I can honestly say that the future holds big things for these four lads and we are more than happy to help try and be a part of their musical journey
